Al Hilal’s €30m push for Barcelona’s Casado hinges on one decision

🇪🇸

FC Barcelona are accelerating the departure of Marc Casado, with Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal leading the race to sign the midfielder. The 22-year-old’s role at Barcelona diminished last season as Gavi and Marc Bernal recovered from injuries, reducing his playing time under Hansi Flick. Casado and the club agreed weeks ago that a transfer would be the best solution.

Casado’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has been tasked with finding him a new club. Among the offers received, Al Hilal’s proposal is the strongest, featuring a lucrative contract that makes the move financially appealing. However, Casado remains undecided, weighing the financial benefits against his sporting development.

Saudi Arabia is not his only option. European clubs, including AC Milan, continue to monitor his situation. Atletico Madrid also showed interest earlier in the transfer window, though their enthusiasm has cooled. Barcelona had hoped to finalise the transfer before 30 June to include the income in the previous financial year.

Instead, the club are remaining patient, expecting stronger offers to emerge. The sporting department believe Casado could generate around €30 million through fixed and performance-related payments, particularly if the move to Saudi Arabia proceeds. A decision is expected soon.

Barcelona would prefer to finalise Casado’s future before the squad returns for pre-season training on 13 July. While not essential, the club aim to avoid the midfielder reporting back for training while his transfer remains unresolved. The coming days are expected to be decisive as Casado weighs Al Hilal’s offer against other opportunities in Europe.
