Anderlecht's cash crunch fuels race for Mario Stroeykens
RSC Anderlecht have signalled a willingness to sell 21‑year‑old midfielder Mario Stroeykens this summer, with Dutch side AFC Ajax Amsterdam reportedly among the clubs circling the player. The Belgian club hopes the deal will generate much‑needed cash as they look to balance their finances.
Mario Stroeykens is under contract with RSC Anderlecht until 2028. Transfermarkt values him at €4.5 million.
Stroeykens featured in 30 matches last season, scoring one goal and providing one assist. The campaign was described as relatively quiet for the midfielder.
Parma, an Italian club, expressed interest earlier this week, and several other European sides have been monitoring the situation. To date, no official bid has been submitted to RSC Anderlecht.
Reports suggest AFC Ajax Amsterdam made an informal, low‑value offer that RSC Anderlecht deemed insufficient, yet discussions remain open. The exact amount of the bid was not disclosed, and the proposal was mentioned at WFC Groningen.
With Anderlecht needing funds promptly, the club may entertain a revised proposal from Ajax as the transfer window progresses. Any new offer could shape the midfielder’s future and the club’s financial outlook.
