Ansu Fati signs four-year deal with AS Monaco

Ansu Fati has agreed a four-year contract with AS Monaco, finalising his permanent move away from FC Barcelona. The Ligue 1 side will pay around €11 million for the transfer. Photo by Angel Martinez. The 23‑year‑old La Masia graduate spent last season on loan at AS Monaco. FC Barcelona have spent the summer window focusing on players no longer part of Hansi Flick’s plans. Fati’s departure is one of the first sales Barcelona have concentrated on. FC Barcelona are securing a buyback clause worth less than €30 million and a percentage of any future sale. The club’s approach mirrors Real Madrid’s deal when they sold Nico Paz to Como. Both clubs aim to retain future control over the players. The €11 million fee and removal of Fati’s salary from the wage bill should improve FC Barcelona’s financial flexibility. The funds are intended to support reinforcements for Flick as the Catalan club prepares for the new season. Fati chose AS Monaco because he believes the sporting project offers the best environment for his development. FC Barcelona have told him the move is not necessarily a final goodbye, and the transfer is being completed before 30 June.
