Anthony Gordon joins FC Barcelona as versatile forward
Anthony Gordon signed for FC Barcelona in May. The club views the Englishman's arrival as a balm amid a stagnant transfer market.
Deco and Flick secured a forward capable of playing left wing and as a central striker. Gordon is expected to provide space‑creating runs, good ball control and an interesting, though not lethal, finishing style.
Barcelona no longer appears as a market victim that must be “bled” after the departure of Robert Lewandowski. Gordon’s signing means the club still needs to replace the Polish striker but without spending exorbitant sums.
Ferran Torres, Dani Olmo, Fermín, Gordon and Rashford are listed as players able to operate as a number nine. Rashford continues to prioritize FC Barcelona for the upcoming season.
The search for a top‑class striker persists, with Julián named as the leading candidate and Joao Pedro positioned as a backup option. Both the Argentine and the Brazilian are considered quality wingers rather than prolific goal‑scorers.
The club’s policy stresses avoiding reckless spending and paying a fair price, even if it means dropping a level to acquire a target striker.
