Arne Slot dismissed by Liverpool, Fulham show interest
Liverpool dismissed Arne Slot as head coach last week and appointed Andoni Iraola, who left Bournemouth to sign a two‑year deal on Merseyside. The 47‑year‑old Dutch manager was approached by Fulham after Marco Silva departed as Fulham head coach.
Slot, the Dutchman, guided Liverpool to the Premier League title in the 2024/25 season, his first campaign in charge. The following 2025/26 season saw the defending champions finish fifth.
That season also featured domestic cup defeats to Crystal Palace and Manchester City and a Champions League exit at the hands of Paris Saint‑Germain. Slot’s end‑of‑season review involved Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, after which the sporting director acted on Saturday.

Slot was under contract until 2027. He left Liverpool after agreeing a £7 million compensation package. He is linked to the Netherlands head‑coach vacancy, where Ronald Koeman is expected to leave after the FIFA World Cup. Ajax, Celtic in the Scottish top flight and AC Milan have also been mentioned as possible destinations.
