Atletico Madrid eyes Oumar Solet As Inter Milan stalls

Atletico Madrid have signalled a concrete interest in Udinese defender Oumar Solet, threatening Inter Milan’s pursuit as the Italian club’s €20 million offer sits below Udinese’s €25‑30 million asking price, with an initial bid expected within a week. Amid the defender favours a move to Milan and that Inter have already missed out on Marco Palestra to Chelsea.

Inter Milan have been actively pursuing Oumar Solet, and Get Italian Football News noted that the Nerazzurri came close to a deal in recent weeks. The Italian side’s interest has been described as long‑standing.

La dello Sport reported that the negotiations may not be straightforward. The newspaper highlighted lingering obstacles between the clubs.

Inter Milan have reportedly secured a verbal agreement with the defender, who is waiting to see if and when he can move to Milan, a city he has expressed strong appreciation for. Solet’s personal preference adds a layer of motivation to the transfer.

Udinese have not yet reached an agreement with Inter Milan. The Friulian club’s asking price is estimated at €25‑30 million, while Inter’s offer sits around €20 million, creating a gap of a few million euros.

Atletico Madrid sense the timing as favourable and are expected to submit an initial written offer to Udinese within a week. Their concrete interest could reshape the bidding dynamics.

Pressure tactics appear to be at play, with Solet keen on joining Inter and his representatives pushing for a move. Knowing Inter missed out on Marco Palestra to Chelsea, the Atletico threat may force Inter to accelerate its offer.

The analysis was compiled by Kaustubh Pandey of GIFN, noting that an Atletico bid could compel Inter Milan to raise its proposal or risk losing the defender.
