Barcelona not planning immediate move for Javi Guerra

Barcelona have confirmed they are not preparing an immediate transfer for Valencia midfielder Javi Guerra despite a recent meeting between sporting director Deco and the player’s agent Javi Garrido. The discussion took place earlier this week and formed part of a broader dialogue on several potential signings.

Deco and Garrido examined a shortlist that included Guerra among other names, reflecting their long‑standing professional rapport. Garrido also represents a number of Barcelona players and Paris Saint‑Germain midfielder Kang‑In Lee, illustrating his wide client base. The two have maintained a close relationship for several years, dating back to when Garrido represented Ez Abde.

Barcelona are not currently preparing an offer for the 23‑year‑old Guerra, who remains highly regarded but is not a priority target for the Catalan club. Guerra currently competes in La Liga with Valencia, adding to his profile. Reports from Mundo Deportivo confirm the lack of an immediate move.

Guerra’s contract at Valencia carries a release clause of €40 million, which will rise to €60 million on 1 August. The clause had previously been set at €100 million before being lowered in his latest renewal. These figures give Barcelona a clear picture of the financial parameters surrounding a potential future deal.

The meeting gave Deco a clearer understanding of Guerra’s contractual situation and future prospects. Deco highlighted that Barcelona continue to monitor Guerra and other players who may become interesting options later. Garrido also represents academy prospect Tommy Marques, who debuted under Hansi Flick and spent much of last season training regularly with the first team, underscoring the agent’s role in providing valuable information to the club.
