Bernardo Silva Near Real Madrid Move, Reports Say

Real Madrid were initially expected to pursue a star midfielder this summer, with links to Rodri, Vitinha and Joao Neves. Those links have cooled and the club shifted focus. The club still monitors Mateus Fernandes as a pricey long‑term midfield option, but free‑agent Bernardo Silva has become the primary target to fill the creative void. Silva is now the top priority. Silva has been linked with the Spanish “holy trifecta” of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, and both Barcelona and Atletico also desire him. The competition underscores his market value. Reports initially suggested an agreement with Barcelona, but Silva reconsidered after Real Madrid entered the race. Ramon Alvarez now reports Silva is very close to completing a move to Real Madrid. Silva says he likes Real Madrid’s project and foresees a major role under Jose Mourinho, making Los Blancos the preferred destination. He views the club as the best fit for his ambitions. Leaving Manchester City, Silva is regarded as one of the finest players in his position and can operate in an attacking midfield role or on the right wing, where Real Madrid lack quality options. His versatility adds tactical depth. Securing Silva on a free transfer is described as a low‑cost, high‑value acquisition and a top priority for Real Madrid. The club aims to tie him down quickly.
