Borussia Dortmund eyes former Ajax midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic

Former Ajax midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic has attracted interest from Borussia Dortmund, the German branch of reported on Monday. Dortmund, which is seeking a midfield reinforcement, made contact with his Danish club Brøndby in March, signalling a serious scouting effort.

Tahirovic arrived at Ajax from AS Roma in the summer of 2023 for a fee exceeding seven million euros. His spell in Amsterdam failed to leave a strong impression, prompting the club to consider a sale.

After a year and a half, he transferred to Danish side Brøndby for just under three million euros, representing a substantial loss on Ajax’s original outlay. The move underscored the Dutch club’s difficulty in recouping its investment.

In Denmark, Tahirovic has showcased his best form, and his displays at the World Cup have further raised his profile. These performances have placed him on Dortmund’s shortlist for a midfield addition.

Reports suggest Dortmund could secure the player for less than ten million euros, while it remains unclear whether Ajax negotiated a sell‑on clause for the winter of 2025. Nonetheless, the Dutch side is expected to receive a modest solidarity payment.
