Chelsea, Leeds and Arsenal chase Sporting defender Ousmane Diomande

Chelsea, Leeds United and Arsenal are all reported to be pursuing Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande this summer. The interest centers on the Ivory Coast centre‑back’s recent performances in Liga Portugal. Mark Brus reported the three‑way race for the 22‑year‑old defender. Diomande featured in 31 matches for Sporting CP last campaign, scoring one goal and registering one assist across competitions. His contract with Sporting CP expires in the summer of 2030, so any suitor must present a convincing offer. Standing 1.90 m tall, Diomande combines strong tackling with aerial dominance and can play out from the back. Observers question whether he can adapt to the physicality and intensity of the Premier League. Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso is urged to move quickly if he wants to secure Diomande before the transfer window closes. The defender could add bite to Chelsea’s back line and compete for a regular first‑team spot at Stamford Bridge. A pre‑season friendly photo by Gualter Fatia shows Diomande before Sporting CP’s match against Villarreal at Estádio Nacional do Jamor. The image captures the Ivory Coast player in preparation for the July 25, 2025 fixture.
