Craig McLeish signs Samuel Ramos for St Mirren

St Mirren manager Craig McLeish has completed his first summer signing, bringing 25‑year‑old Spanish midfielder Samuel Ramos to the club’s Smisa Stadium in Paisley. Ramos arrives after a season with Slovak top‑flight side Zemplin Michalovce, where he netted eight goals in 32 appearances.

Ramos previously trained in the youth ranks of UD Las Palmas before a brief senior stint with Mensajaro in Spain. He signed a contract with St Mirren that runs until 2028, a deal secured after McLeish and new head of recruitment Gavin Miller identified him through scouting.

His arrival makes him only the third Spanish player to don the St Mirren shirt. The previous Spaniards were former Barcelona captain Victor Munoz and midfielder Tonet.

"Samuel Ramos is someone I'm really excited about getting in," Craig McLeish said on the St Mirren website. He explained that he first noticed Ramos months before taking the permanent managerial role, and later shared the scouting report with Miller.

"Once I got the manager's role and Gavin [Miller] came in, I shared it with him and we looked at the data and it was really good," McLeish added. He said he watched many of Ramos's games, consulted teammates and an ex‑coach, and believes the player's energy and passion will please the fans.

Ramos contributed eight goals across 32 league matches for Zemplin Michalovce last season, showcasing an attacking edge for a midfielder. He will line up as a midfielder for St Mirren in the upcoming season.
