Doncaster Rovers bolster attack with Frankie Okoronkwo signing

Doncaster Rovers have secured the services of 21‑year‑old striker Frankie Okoronkwo on a two‑year contract, adding a promising forward to their squad. The former Everton academy graduate joins the League One side as a free agent after being released by the Merseyside club this summer.

Last season, Okoronkwo spent time on loan with two fellow League One clubs, Lincoln City and Cardiff City. Both stints provided him with further experience in the third tier of English football.

He previously returned to Doncaster Rovers on loan, making five appearances during the second half of the last campaign. A hamstring injury forced him out of action, curtailing his loan spell in January.

Everton released Okoronkwo in the summer, leaving him without a contract. His free‑agent status enabled the move to Doncaster without a transfer fee.

Okoronkwo becomes Doncaster Rovers' sixth summer acquisition. The club previously added Leon Ayinde, James Husband, Neill Byrne, Alfie May and Tommy Simkin to the roster.

All six deals were finalized in June 2026. The timing reflects the club's early activity in the transfer window.
