Eenhoorn and Rigaux Delay Decision on Van Persie's Feyenoord Future
Robert Eenhoorn and Dévy Rigaux, appointed as general director and technical director of Feyenoord, held their first press conference as the club’s new policy makers. They said no decision has been made regarding head coach Robin van Persie’s job security. The outcome will depend on a thorough analysis of the season.
Rigaux, 38, stated that the club will take time to analyse everything that occurred last season before reaching any conclusions. He emphasized that no judgment on Van Persie’s position has been formed yet. He also noted that the timetable for a decision has not been set by the club.
Rigaux, who previously worked at Club Brugge, confirmed he will continue discussions with Van Persie on squad planning. He described the selection process as initially analytical and conducted in consultation with the trainer. Eenhoorn, 58, will join the analysis together with the head coach.
Eenhoorn, formally starting on 1 July, said he will focus on analysing facts and getting to know staff before making any moves. He rejected the idea of a quick verdict and described the approach as “quick with the facts, slow with the blame.” His short‑term plan is to gather all ins and outs of the club’s dossiers.
Both officials warned against premature expectations of a league title. Rigaux outlined a goal of becoming structurally successful and building a competitive core on three fronts. Eenhoorn added that performance will be measured against the league’s average points, with Feyenoord expected to match the top clubs.
