El Burgos condemn Cultural Leonesa to relegation

El Burgos secured a 0-2 win against Cultural Leonesa with a David González double in the first half, mathematically relegating the León-based club to Primera RFEF. The victory keeps El Burgos in contention for the LaLiga Hypermotion playoff spot ahead of the final matchday.

Cultural Leonesa, already relegated before the match, finished 19th in the standings with 29 points, 11 below the safety line. El Burgos, with 48 points, remains in fifth place, one point behind fourth-placed Real Valladolid.

LaLiga Hypermotion's final round features direct promotion spots for Real Valladolid and Racing Santander, while third place will face a playoff against a LaLiga team. El Burgos needs a win to secure at least a playoff berth.

David González, who scored both goals, has now netted 14 times this season. The forward’s brace extended El Burgos’s unbeaten run to six matches.

Cultural Leonesa’s relegation follows their drop from Segunda División B in 2022. They finish the campaign with just three wins in 38 games.

El Burgos manager Abelardo Fernández will name his starting XI for the final match against Racing Ferrol on Sunday.
