Elliot Anderson sparks £110m Manchester City bid

Elliot Anderson, 23, is at the centre of a reported £110m transfer saga as Manchester City submit a fresh bid for the Nottingham Forest midfielder. Forest have already rejected an earlier significant offer, leaving his club future uncertain ahead of the summer. Anderson's Premier League season produced the highest touches (3,300) of any top‑flight player and the most duels won (297). He also led in fouls won (80), possession gains (306 overall, 154 in the middle third, 127 in the defensive third), line‑breaking passes (376), completed passes (2,038) and dribbles (95). His 1,895 high‑intensity pressures were the most by a central midfielder, and he became the first player since Declan Rice in 2019‑20 to exceed 300 possession wins in a season. Thomas Tuchel has made Anderson a regular in England's midfield, awarding him eight caps this season. He is slated to start alongside Declan Rice in the World Cup opener against Croatia on 17 June, with kick‑off at 21:00 BST. Owner Evangelos Marinakis is holding out for the £110m figure, despite Manchester City's long admiration of Anderson, highlighted by his equaliser at the Etihad Stadium in March. With Bernardo Silva's departure, Anderson now tops Forest's list of midfield targets, and the fee could set a new record for a British player.
