Everton negotiate €11.4m deal for Juventus winger Edon Zhegrova

Everton have opened direct talks with Juventus to secure winger Edon Zhegrova for a baseline fee of €11.4m, after the Italian club bought him for €14.3m last autumn. Zhegrova managed only one start, zero goals and zero assists in his most recent Serie A season.

Italian journalist Mirko Di Natale disclosed that Everton made direct contact with Juventus over the past few weeks. The contact signals a serious intent rather than casual interest.

The athletic David Ornstein flagged Everton as long‑term suitors back in February. That earlier observation shows the Merseysiders have been monitoring Zhegrova for months.

Other clubs are sniffing around the situation, with Monaco, Lens, Besiktas and Trabzonspor all keeping tabs. None of those clubs have displayed the persistence Everton has shown.

Zhegrova arrived from Lille after a season in which he contributed 22 goals and assists. Juventus’ purchase price of €14.3m has now been reduced to roughly €11.4m in negotiations.

A nasty adductor injury struck him before his move to Turin, limiting him to 366 minutes of action, mostly as a substitute. He recorded only one start and failed to register a goal or an assist.

Everton finished 13th last term at the newly named Hill Dickinson Stadium and are seeking an attacking spark. The club has already spent £18m on Freiburg midfielder Merlin Rohl.

David Moyes demands a relentless, industrial work rate from his wide players. Zhegrova’s explosive pace and trickery could fit if he shows defensive grit.

Everton’s pursuit of Zhegrova represents a calculated risk at a reduced price point. The club believes the winger’s raw ceiling justifies the gamble.
