Feyenoord’s £150k bid for 15‑year‑old Samil Koroma ignites Dutch talent race

🇳🇱
Feyenoord have secured the signing of 15‑year‑old striker Samil Koroma from FC Emmen, reportedly paying around €150,000, a sum described as a ‘tasty’ amount, and out‑maneuvering interest from Ajax, PSV, FC Groningen and SC Heerenveen in a move that highlights the Rotterdam club’s willingness to invest in youth. Feyenoord unveiled Koroma earlier this week, presenting the 15‑year‑old as a new addition to their academy. The Dagblad van het Noorden described him as a ‘super‑talent’ who can already dream of a debut at De Kuip. Agent Melvyn Wolthers praised the youngster’s profile, calling him a classic right winger, a real dribbler, physically strong and exceptional in one‑on‑one situations. He added that Koroma possesses a great character and a good heart. Wolthers explained that Koroma was raised with a hard‑working ethic, noting his mother cleans every day and his father works abroad for long periods. He said the family is proud and emotional about the move, describing it as a beautiful moment in a turbulent life. Feyenoord reportedly paid an ‘sloppy’ €150,000 – a sum rarely spent on a regional Emmen player – for the teenager. Wolthers said the club normally opposes taking young players from their clubs, but Koroma’s exceptional talent required a step up. Besides Feyenoord, Dutch giants Ajax and PSV were also linked to Koroma, along with FC Groningen and SC Heerenveen. Wolthers suggested that clubs hesitant about the transfer were ‘blind’ to the player’s potential.
