Forest faces a managerial gap after Pereira's surprise departure

🇬🇧
Nottingham Forest have confirmed that head coach Vitor Pereira has left the club, describing his exit as a “complete surprise and without any warning”. The Portuguese manager, who signed an 18‑month deal in February, guided Forest to Premier League survival and a Europa League semi‑final. The departure creates an immediate managerial void, forcing Forest to find a successor who can sustain the progress achieved this season. With the club’s recent European run, the board emphasises continuity and ambition. Pereira, 57, departed after the club exercised a mutual break clause in his contract. This decision ends his short‑term tenure despite the achievements recorded. Forest’s official statement thanked Pereira and his coaching staff – Filipe Almeida, Luis Miguel, Bruno Moura, Marco Knoop and Pedro Lopes – for their considerable efforts. The club highlighted the foundations they laid for future development. Pereira said, “Today marks the end of my journey as head coach of Nottingham Forest. Although this decision came as a complete surprise to me and without any warning, I fully respect the club’s right to make the decisions it believes are best for its future.” He added that he leaves “with a sense of pride in everything we achieved over the past months.” Mike Egerton of PA reported that Pereira called his exit a ‘complete surprise and without any warning’. Reports have suggested that Oliver Glasner is set to take over after his departure from Crystal Palace at the end of last season. Glasner’s potential appointment would signal a strategic shift for Forest as they aim to build on recent European success. The club now faces the task of finalising a new managerial appointment while preserving the squad’s momentum. Any delay could impact preparations for the upcoming Premier League fixtures.
