Keisuke Goto joins SC Freiburg for €10 million

SC Freiburg confirmed on Thursday the signing of Keisuke Goto. Anderlecht received €10 million for the transfer. The 21‑year‑old forward arrives after a season on loan at Sint‑Truiden. Goto contributed 13 goals and seven assists in 39 matches for Sint‑Truiden. He said the club's board showed strong interest, which influenced his decision. He added that he had watched several Europa League games and looks forward to the upcoming season. Jochen Saier, a member of SC Freiburg's board, described Goto as an exciting player with bold style. Saier highlighted Goto's propensity for runs, good sense of space and positional awareness in the box. He noted that the player will need time to integrate but the club is very satisfied. Keisuke Goto has been called up by Japan for the World Cup, his first major tournament. He will compete for attacking minutes as Japan seeks to surprise on big stages.
