Kieran Trippier stays at Wolves despite Rob Edwards exit

English defender Kieran Trippier will remain at Wolverhampton Wanderers despite the recent dismissal of manager Rob Edwards, The Telegraph reports. Trippier signed a two‑year deal in early summer and is set to join pre‑season training in early July as Wolves aim for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Wolves appointed Portuguese coach Cesar Peixoto as their new head coach shortly after Edwards left. Peixoto has already spoken with Trippier and regards the veteran full‑back as a key element of his promotion plans.

Technical director Matt Jackson has been collaborating closely with Peixoto to shape the club’s season strategy. Jackson travelled to Portugal to discuss transfer plans with the new manager.

The club’s rebuilding follows relegation from the Premier League to the Championship. Wolves have already confirmed the signings of Trippier and the return of fan favourite Raul Jimenez from Fulham.

Several senior players are under review for possible exits, including Joao Gomes who is linked with a move to La Liga side Atletico Madrid. Other squad members such as Jose Sa, Ladislav Krejci, Jean‑Ricner Bellegarde and Hwang Hee‑chan are also expected to have their situations examined after the World Cup.

Jackson Tchatchoua has been placed on the chopping block as Wolves trim the squad. Peixoto believes Pedro Lima can provide cover for Trippier, enabling the club to cash in on Tchatchoua this summer.
