Simeone unsure on Julián Álvarez's Atlético future

Diego Simeone refused to guarantee Julián Álvarez’s future at Atlético de Madrid beyond 2024.

The Argentine striker, 24, reiterated his contentment in Madrid and at the club during pre-season, but stopped short of confirming his long-term commitment. Atlético de Madrid’s pre-season tour in Portugal included training sessions where Álvarez trained with the first team.

Simeone emphasized squad planning is ongoing but declined to link Álvarez’s future to specific transfer targets. The club’s transfer window remains open until 31 August.

Atletico Madrid’s next competitive fixture is the UEFA Super Cup against Real Madrid on 14 August in Warsaw.
