Leandro Trossard outlines Belgium's plan to win next two matches

Leandro Trossard said Belgium will aim to win the next two World Cup 2026 group matches and increase their goal tally after a draw with Egypt. The midfielder, who plays for Arsenal, stressed that securing first place in Group G is the team’s primary objective.

Trossard opened the press conference by describing the tournament start as “a fairly good start of the tournament”. He added that the draw against Egypt was a “correct result, although we had chances to win at the end”.

He noted that all four teams in Group G currently sit on one point, making the group “particularly open”. He said the goal is not to think about second place but to focus on what the team must do.

Trossard declared the intention to win the next two matches and, “if possible, score as many goals as possible, because first place can be decided on that”. He warned that Belgium must avoid the mistake of underestimating Iran, a match he expects to be more open.

Speaking about the Egypt game, Trossard said “it is not easy against such a low block” and described the conditions as “not ideal, the pitch was very dry and the ball did not bounce”. He suggested that conditions in Los Angeles might be different, with slightly cooler weather.

Coach Garcia praised Trossard’s performance, calling him “magnifique”, a comment that lifted the Arsenal forward’s spirits. The atmosphere in the Belgian camp after the match was described as relaxed and confident.
