Levante sign Belgian midfielder Aaron Murenzi from Genk

Belgian 18‑year‑old attacking midfielder Aaron Murenzi has signed for La Liga side Levante UD, leaving KRC Genk after three seasons in the Belgian club’s youth set‑up. Levante announced the move on Thursday, noting the player will initially join the reserve squad.

Murenzi is the nephew of Mike Trésor, who currently plays for Burnley in England. His contract with KRC Genk’s U18 side was set to expire at the end of June.

In the 2025/2026 campaign he featured 19 times for Genk’s U18 team, scoring six goals. He also appeared in four Youth League matches, netting twice, and logged three Challenger Pro League outings totalling 39 minutes.

The midfielder joined Genk’s academy in July 2023 after leaving RSC Anderlecht. Although Genk identified significant potential, he never made a senior appearance for the first team.

Levante’s sporting director wrote, “With the arrival of Aaron Murenzi the blue‑red reserve squad adds youth, versatility and valuable international experience to the attacking line, while we continue to strengthen the training structure in Orriols.” The statement suggests he will bolster the reserve side’s attacking options.

The club’s announcement highlighted that Murenzi, born in 2008, excels in combination play in the final metres. It added that he has already worn the Belgian national shirt, receiving regular call‑ups for the country’s youth categories.

Levante concluded, “Despite his young age the new Granota player was trained at two of the most renowned academies in Belgian football: he began at RSC Anderlecht and continued his development at KRC Genk.”
