Liverpool among clubs eyeing Lee Han-beom

Liverpool are reported to be monitoring South Korean defender Lee Han-beom. Lee, 23, is a centre back for FC Midtjylland and has attracted interest after a strong start to the 2026 World Cup. South Korea opened their World Cup campaign with a 2-1 win over the Czech Republic. Lee delivered a composed defensive performance, helping to contain Patrik Schick and later adapting to the arrival of Adam Hlozek. Lee joined FC Midtjylland from FC Seoul in 2023. He scored the winning goal in the Danish Cup final against FC Copenhagen, securing silverware for the Danish club. Premier League clubs Liverpool, Leeds United, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Brighton have all monitored Lee in recent months. Each of those clubs places significant value on recruitment, development and long‑term squad building. Continental clubs Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Napoli, Monaco and Lyon are also reported to be watching his development. Their interest highlights the growing admiration for Lee across Europe. Lee has only 12 months remaining on his contract with FC Midtjylland, creating a potential opportunity for a summer move. Liverpool’s recruitment history shows a preference for players with high potential and remaining contract length, suggesting Lee could be viewed as a long‑term project rather than an immediate starter. Liverpool already have strong central defensive options, so any signing would likely be aimed at future depth.
