Liverpool eye £25.8m Benfica winger Andreas Schjelderup
Liverpool are reportedly monitoring 22‑year‑old Norway international Andreas Schjelderup, the Benfica left‑winger who notched 10 goals and seven assists in 43 games last season, with a valuation of around €30 million (£25.8 million) placing him among the club’s attainable summer targets as they seek depth on the flanks.
Schjelderup joined Benfica from Danish side Nordsjaelland in January 2023 and has since developed into a technically gifted attacker. Analysis by Scouted Football highlighted his dribbling, chance creation, intelligent movement and a high pressing work rate. He is also part of Norway’s squad at the World Cup, having helped the team reach the knockout stages.
A highlight of his Benfica spell was a double‑goal display in a 4‑2 Champions League victory over Real Madrid. The performance helped raise his profile across Europe.
Besides Liverpool, clubs such as Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan and Como have also been linked to the winger. Their interest underscores the growing demand for his services.
Benfica are understood to value Schjelderup at roughly €30 million, about double the fee they originally paid. The Portuguese club could therefore demand around £25.8 million in negotiations.
Schjelderup revealed he previously had an opportunity to join Liverpool before opting for Nordsjaelland, believing the Danish side offered a clearer pathway to senior football. His subsequent progress at Benfica has now brought him back onto Liverpool’s radar.
Liverpool already possess strong competition across the forward line, meaning any new signing would need to earn regular minutes. Schjelderup’s ability to operate from the left while contributing goals, creativity and defensive intensity aligns with the club’s tactical priorities.
