Liverpool's hunt for a new winger pivots to Manchester City's Savinho

🇬🇧
Liverpool have opened talks with Manchester City about 22‑year‑old Brazilian forward Savinho, who is valued north of €40m. The Anfield club hopes the deal could bolster their options on the flanks. Richard Hughes revealed that Liverpool’s pursuit of Ivorian winger Yan Diomande stalled after a bid that could reach €100m was rejected by RB Leipzig, and Diomande is now leaning towards Paris Saint-Germain. The failed chase left Liverpool seeking alternatives. Dave Davies reported that Liverpool have asked City about Savinho, placing the Brazilian on their alternate list of targets. The list also includes Yankuba Minteh, Matias Fernandez‑Pardo, Said El Mala, Pedro Neto of Chelsea and Kevin of Fulham. Savinho, a left‑footed winger and attacking midfielder, wore No 26 for Manchester City after a breakout loan at Girona. In the 2025/26 season he made 36 appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists, while featuring in the Premier League and Champions League. Liverpool view Savinho’s wiry frame, balance, acceleration and ability to drift inside as a fit for their need for versatile wide attackers. His high‑volume dribbling and movement in half‑space complement the style Liverpool aim to implement. If the talks succeed, Liverpool would gain a fresh option on the right flank, while Manchester City could secure a fee or arrange a strategic loan, preserving control over Savinho’s medium‑term future.
