Liverpool set £60m price for Cody Gakpo as Tottenham watch

Liverpool have set a valuation of at least £60 million for Dutch winger Cody Gakpo, with Tottenham Hotspur listed among the Premier League clubs monitoring the forward, Sport’s Aadam Patel. Gakpo remains under contract until 2030, giving Liverpool strong negotiating leverage.

Cody Gakpo's league output this season totals seven Premier League goals and five assists from 36 appearances. His recent international display came in the Netherlands' 5‑1 win over Sweden at the World Cup.

Speaking after the Sweden match, Gakpo said the national team environment is “a little bit different” because of “the freedom” he enjoys there. He contrasted that liberty with his role at Liverpool.

Liverpool are noted for avoiding rushed decisions on players still under long contracts, and they retain full control of any Gakpo negotiations. The forward originally cost Liverpool £35 million when he arrived from PSV Eindhoven in December 2022.

The arrival of Victor Munoz adds another option for Liverpool’s attacking positions, increasing internal competition. Andoni Iraola has suggested that Gakpo could still fit his pressing, transition‑based system if retained.

Supporters are split between a financial case for selling if an offer above £60 million materialises and a sporting case for keeping a player who contributed to Liverpool’s Premier League triumph in 2024/25. Liverpool’s depth across four competitions means any decision will be taken on the club’s own terms.
