Man United intensify chase for Manu Kone after Éderson deal collapses

🇬🇧 By 4All Football Editorial ·

Manchester United have opened talks with AS Roma about their 2001‑born French midfielder Manu Koné, signalling the English club’s primary midfield target for a Premier League move. According to Fabrizio Romano, United have already contacted the Roma midfielder’s entourage, marking him as a priority profile.

United’s pursuit of Koné intensified after the Éderson transfer fell through, leaving a gap in the Red Devils’ midfield plans. The cancelled deal prompted the English side to accelerate their search for a physical, fast and aggressive midfielder.

The club’s new CEO, Omar Berrada, enjoys strong ties with Koné’s agents and has actively explored the Frenchman’s availability. Berrada’s connections are seen as a key factor in the rapid approach taken by Manchester United.

United have demonstrated an extremely rapid and direct modus operandi this summer, as evidenced by the lightning‑fast signings of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. This approach underlines their determination to secure Koné before other suitors intervene.

The English management is looking for a midfielder who combines physicality with speed and aggression; with Eduardo Camavinga expected to remain at Real Madrid, Koné has risen to the top of United’s wish list. The club believes his attributes fit the Premier League’s demands. In United’s internal notes, the midfielder is frequently referred to simply as Kon.

Roma have yet to receive an official offer, but they are monitoring whether the preliminary discussions will translate into a formal purchase proposal in the coming hours. The Italian club remains patient while evaluating the Red Devils’ interest.

If United secure Koné, the French midfielder could make his Premier League debut this summer, bolstering Manchester’s midfield depth. For Roma, a sale would provide a lucrative exit for a promising talent, while United would address a key squad need ahead of the new campaign.
