Manchester City reject Arsenal loan bid for Savinho as Spurs pursue transfer
Manchester City have rejected a loan approach for Savinho from Arsenal. The 22-year-old Brazilian winger remains a target for Tottenham Hotspur for the second consecutive summer. Manchester City’s hierarchy, led by chief executive Ferran Soriano, previously rejected a Spurs bid last summer reportedly worth £70 million. The player’s future at the Etihad Stadium has become increasingly uncertain after limited minutes under Pep Guardiola this season.
Savinho’s reduced playing time at Manchester City has intensified speculation over his exit. A thigh injury and competition from Jeremy Doku and Antoine Semenyo restricted his opportunities in the 2025/26 campaign. The Brazilian international is now seeking guaranteed minutes elsewhere, with Tottenham’s pursuit reignited under Roberto De Zerbi.
Tottenham have initiated preliminary talks with Savinho’s representatives and the City Football Group. These discussions are described as still in their early stages by RTI Esporte. Manchester City officials also met with Spurs representatives to explore potential transfer terms.
Tonali bidding war: Arsenal and Spurs push Newcastle to €100m
Arsenal’s loan enquiry for Savinho was swiftly dismissed by Manchester City. Despite this, Spurs remain the primary threat to secure the player’s services. Manchester City continue to view Savinho as a future asset but will consider offers close to €50 million. Hugo Viana, Sporting Director at Manchester City, is prioritising wide reinforcements this summer. The club has explored options including Bournemouth’s Eli Junior Kroupi and RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande. A British-record deal for Elliot Anderson remains the immediate focus in recruitment. Sandro Tonali of Newcastle United is another target for Manchester City’s midfield recruitment. The club is also eyeing right-back options to support Matheus Nunes in the position. Enzo Maresca’s squad planning hinges on resolving Savinho’s future.
