Manchester United Near €92m Deal for Mateus Fernandes

Manchester United are close to signing Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United for a reported €92 million this summer. The move would see the Portuguese midfielder join the Red Devils ahead of the new campaign. Fernandes featured in 38 matches for West Ham United last season, scoring four goals and providing four assists across all competitions. Despite his contributions, the Hammers were relegated from the Premier League. His contract with West Ham United runs until the summer of 2030, which could limit Manchester United’s ability to secure him at a reduced fee. The player’s versatility allows him to operate as a box‑to‑box, defensive or attacking midfielder. Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick could benefit from Fernandes’ defensive work rate, long‑range shooting and passing ability.
