Marc Casado rejects Turkish move; La Liga clubs circle Barcelona midfielder

Marc Casado has rejected an offer from a Turkish club and is now weighing his next move after Barcelona midfielder confirmed his intention to leave the Catalan side this summer. Casado’s decision follows discussions with head coach Hansi Flick at the end of the season, with competition from Marc Bernal, Frenkie de Jong, Pedri and Gavi limiting his first-team opportunities next season. The 22-year-old academy graduate has made 75 appearances for Barcelona under Flick across two seasons and is seeking regular football to continue his development. Barcelona have set a transfer fee of around €20 million for Casado, with the club aiming to finalise any deal before 30 June to maximise accounting benefits as an academy player. Casado’s preference remains a move within a top European competition, though he has not ruled out Al Hilal, with agent Jorge Mendes also involved in potential negotiations. The midfielder’s future has drawn interest from multiple La Liga clubs, including Atletico Madrid, Real Betis and Real Sociedad. Atletico Madrid are considered a strong fit for Casado under Diego Simeone’s system, with sporting director Mateu Alemany reportedly favouring the midfielder. Real Betis have also entered the frame as they prepare for a Champions League campaign under Manuel Pellegrini, while Real Sociedad have contacted Mendes to assess Casado’s availability. For Barcelona, the sale presents a financial opportunity but also a delicate balance between club loyalty and squad pragmatism. Casado’s first senior season under Flick saw him excel early, earning praise from fans and paving the way for his continued involvement in the first team. The Blaugrana would benefit from a La Liga destination, allowing them to monitor his progress closely while securing a return on investment. However, the €20 million asking price may prove challenging for some Spanish clubs, complicating negotiations. Casado’s options remain varied, with a move to Al Hilal still possible if terms align. His decision reflects both personal ambition and the realities of a congested Barcelona midfield, where minutes are increasingly scarce.
