Mishel Gerzig hints Courtois family may welcome second child
Mishel Gerzig told Het that, while Thibaut Courtois focuses on his club duties, the couple may soon welcome a second child. The Belgian goalkeeper married the model in 2023 and they already have a two‑year‑old daughter, Ellie.
Gerzig explained that their daily life revolves around Ellie, and that work and career are important but always secondary to family. She said, “Mijn gezin komt altijd op de eerste plaats,” emphasizing that they try to spend as much time as possible with their daughter.
When asked about a possible family expansion, Gerzig replied, “Ik sluit niet uit dat we nog voor een tweede kindje gaan. Yes, we want. Maar we plannen liever niet te veel.” The statement leaves the door open for a brother or sister for Ellie.
Gerzig described Courtois as a “voorbeeldige vader,” noting that he helps with daily care and makes time to play with his daughter. Their routine shows the goalkeeper balancing parental duties with his professional commitments.
Courtois has previously hinted that he may leave the Belgian national team after this summer to concentrate on his role at Real Madrid. The potential departure would allow him to focus on club football in Spain.
Nevertheless, Gerzig stressed that no final decision has been made regarding his international future, and that Courtois still enjoys his return to the Rode Duivels. The family’s immediate priority remains enjoying life as a young household.
