Monaco’s €10m gamble on Sadibou Sané signals a busy July
AS Monaco have agreed to pay around €10 million, including bonuses, for 21‑year‑old Senegal international Sadibou Sané, sealing a five‑year contract that will see the defender leave FC Metz and complete his move in July. The deal, confirmed by French Football News, marks a significant investment as the club prepares for a busy start to the new season.
Negotiations between Monaco, Metz and Sané’s representatives have been close for several days, Les Monégasques.
The signing coincides with the imminent appointment of Filipe Luis as Monaco’s new manager. Luis is expected to take charge as the club finalises its summer recruitment.
Midfielder Mathys Detourbet, whose move from ESTAC Troyes to Manchester City was confirmed over the weekend, is also set to join Monaco on loan. Detourbet’s temporary deal adds depth to the squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
In addition, forward Nazinho is slated to arrive from Belgian side Cercle Brugge. His addition further bolsters Monaco’s attacking options as they look to compete on multiple fronts.
Monaco’s €10 million outlay for Sané reflects a broader trend of French clubs investing heavily in young talent during the summer window. The club’s activity suggests a strategic push to reinforce both defensive and offensive lines before the season begins.
