NEC signs 21‑year‑old Danish defender Tobias Storm

🇳🇱 yesterday

NEC has confirmed the signing of 21‑year‑old Danish centre‑back Tobias Storm from Lyngby BK, with the defender joining the Dutch side on a contract that runs until mid‑2030 after terminating his existing deal with Lyngby that was set to expire in mid‑2027.

The transfer had been reported as a target for NEC. Negotiations between NEC and Lyngby BK were confirmed before the announcement.

Storm’s contract with Lyngby BK ran until mid‑2027. He will leave the club before that date to join NEC.

The fee paid by NEC to Lyngby BK has not been disclosed. The exact amount remains confidential.

"Met de komst van Tobias gaan we in de defensie weer richting de gewenste bezetting", said technical director Carlos Aalbers of NEC in conversation with the club website after the signing. Storm will join trainer Dick Schreuder’s squad on Wednesday and will be given time to adapt to the new environment, culture and playing style.

During the previous season, Storm made 31 appearances for Lyngby BK. Most of those matches were in Denmark’s 1. Division, the second tier of the Danish league system.

In total, he has featured 87 times for Lyngby BK. He progressed through the club’s youth academy before establishing himself in the senior side.

Storm is also a youth international for Denmark. He has earned seven caps for the Jong Denemarken side.

NEC expect Storm to help achieve the desired defensive composition as they prepare for the upcoming season.
