Olympique Lyonnais poised to avoid DNCG sanctions this year

🇫🇷 yesterday

Olympique Lyonnais are expected to avoid sanctions when they meet the Direction Nationale du Contrôle de Gestion (DNCG) later this year, according to a report by Sacha Tavolieri. The Rhone club has been under strict monitoring following financial difficulty.

The club was previously relegated to Ligue 2 by the French football financial watchdog, but the decision was reversed on appeal. That reversal allowed Olympique Lyonnais to remain in Ligue 1. The report was authored by journalist Liam Wraith.

A stricter policy on the way the club has been run under the presidency of Michelle Kang has seen the club’s financial picture improve. Capital has been injected into the football club and costs have been reduced.

These financial measures have positioned Lyon to breathe easier ahead of the DNCG meeting. The upcoming DNCG discussion will test whether the reforms are sufficient.

Earlier DNCG meetings placed the club’s Ligue 1 status at risk. The current reprieve marks a stark contrast to those previous encounters.

Lyon’s upcoming discussion with the DNCG will determine whether the financial reforms are sufficient to secure the club’s position. The outcome will shape the Rhone side’s future in French football.
