Pep Guardiola offered £75M payday to extend Manchester City contract
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola played his final match in charge on Sunday, suffering a 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa.
The Catalan leaves Etihad Stadium after a decade, having secured 20 major trophies during his tenure.
Guardiola has been offered a new contract reportedly worth £75 million to remain at Manchester City.
The deal would make him the highest-paid manager in world football, surpassing current top earner Carlo Ancelotti.
City co-chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak confirmed ongoing contract discussions with Guardiola.
Guardiola’s departure had been expected after he previously indicated his intention to step down at the end of the season.
The new contract would extend his stay at least one more year beyond his current commitment.
