Quinten Timber out, Koeman fields fit Netherlands squad
Midfielder Quinten Timber will not travel with the Netherlands national team to Houston for their second World Cup group match against Sweden after suffering a light concussion in a training collision, the KNVB confirmed on Thursday. He remains at the team hotel in Kansas City and will not be part of the squad on match day.
Timber sustained the concussion after colliding with a teammate during Thursday's training session. Following assessment by the medical staff, the KNVB decided he will also not be allowed to encourage the side from the Houston stadium.
The duration of Timber's recovery has not been disclosed by the federation. He will miss the team's preparations ahead of the match.

His brother Jurriën Timber travelled with the Netherlands squad to New York for a training camp but was sidelined by a groin injury, prompting his replacement by Lutsharel Geertruida. Geertruida joins the squad for the tournament. Coach Ronald Koeman has a fully fit selection for the Sweden encounter. The Dutch side therefore retains all other players for the upcoming game. The KNVB expects around 15,000 supporters to attend the match against Sweden in Houston. The match will be played at the Houston Stadium.
