Raphinha to postpone Al Hilal talks until after World Cup

FC Barcelona winger and captain Raphinha will delay any formal talks with Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup. He said his priority is the World Cup and he does not want transfer negotiations to distract him.

Al Hilal have already made initial approaches to Raphinha, who confirmed he is willing to listen to their proposal. Two years ago the Saudi side presented a proposal worth around €185 million in wages over four years, which Raphinha rejected in favour of staying at Barcelona under Hansi Flick. Flick’s trust and tactical system helped Raphinha elevate his performances.

Saudi Arabian manager Simone Inzaghi would welcome Raphinha’s arrival, viewing him as a marquee signing to help Al Hilal return to the top of Saudi football. The Riyadh‑based club now faces a decision to wait for the Brazilian to finish the World Cup or to pursue alternative targets.

Barcelona have not actively pushed for a separation; Raphinha remains a key figure in Flick’s project and is highly valued in the dressing room. The club recently added Anthony Gordon to strengthen the left wing, providing additional depth. Financially, any Saudi offer could be significant for all parties, and discussions are expected to intensify once Brazil’s World Cup campaign ends.
