Real Madrid and Ceballos fail to agree contract termination deal
Real Madrid and midfielder Dani Ceballos have yet to finalise an agreement over the premature termination of his contract, which has one year remaining. The Spanish midfielder has been in talks with the club over ending his deal early, but no resolution has been reached as of now.
The 29-year-old is eager to secure a free transfer back to Real Betis, his boyhood club, but Real Madrid insist on receiving compensation. The club do not want to release Ceballos without compensation or pay his remaining salary.
This has created a stand-off in negotiations, though both parties are reportedly keen to resolve the matter soon. A resolution is expected in the coming days as Ceballos prepares to leave the Santiago Bernabéu.
Signed from Real Betis in 2017, Ceballos struggled to establish himself at Real Madrid despite initial promise. After limited playing time, he spent a season on loan at Arsenal, where his fortunes varied.
Upon returning, injuries and competition in midfield restricted his opportunities further. Last season, Ceballos was not part of Xabi Alonso’s plans and later clashed with Alvaro Arbeloa, leaving him out of new manager Jose Mourinho’s considerations.
Ceballos’ time at Real Madrid has been marked by inconsistency and limited impact. The midfielder now looks set to end his spell at the club after failing to secure a regular place in the team.
A resolution is expected soon as both sides seek to move forward, with Ceballos likely to leave on a free transfer if terms are agreed.
