Real Madrid launches €195 Pope kit

Real Madrid have started selling a limited‑edition Pope kit in their Madrid stores. The shirt, branded “Leon XIV”, is priced at €195. The kit was released after a video showed Pope Leo XIV saying he supports Real Madrid while travelling to Spain. During his visit over the weekend, more than a million people gathered in Madrid to see the Pope’s motorcade pass the Santiago Bernabeu en route to Plaza de Cibeles. In a brief interview the Pope was asked whether he favoured Real Madrid or Barcelona; he replied that he supports all teams but favours Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. The comment about Atletico Madrid was omitted from some reports. The Pope will receive a personalised shirt from Real Madrid President Florentino Perez at an event at the Bernabeu on Monday, organised with the diocesan community and featuring musical acts before the mass.
