Real Madrid's rebuild collides with Manchester City's midfield hunt

🇪🇸

Real Madrid are reshaping their squad this summer while Manchester City continue to hunt for midfield reinforcements. The Spanish giants' desire to offload Eduardo Camavinga meets the English club's search for a physically robust midfielder after recent transfer activity ongoing.

Real Madrid have already secured four new signings as part of the summer overhaul. The club aims to lighten the squad to free space for additional acquisitions.

Three players who featured last season have departed: Dani Carvajal, David Alaba and Dani Ceballos. Carvajal and Alaba left after their contracts expired, while Ceballos’ deal was ended by mutual consent.

Midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is among the players slated for exit after his recent seasons fell short of expectations. Real Madrid have offered the Frenchman to Premier League side Manchester City, with direct contacts between the clubs.

Manchester City are evaluating Camavinga’s potential signing, valuing his physical prowess and stamina. The English giants have already secured Elliot Anderson for €135 million and remain active in the midfield market.

City missed out on signing Sandro Tonali, who instead joined Tottenham, increasing the appeal of Camavinga. They are also linked with Ayyoub Bouaddi as the transfer window progresses.

Real Madrid view the situation positively, with José Mourinho expressing doubt over Camavinga’s recent performances and being open to his departure despite not having seen him in training. The club hopes to obtain a good price from one of the Premier League’s wealthiest teams.

The contrast highlights Madrid’s willingness to cut losses while City continues to build midfield depth, leaving the final decision to forthcoming negotiations. Both clubs’ next moves will shape their strategies for the upcoming season.
