Renard calls Netherlands a dangerous World Cup outsider

Tunisia coach Hervé Renard said on Thursday evening that the Netherlands national team, led by Ronald Koeman, is a dangerous outsider for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, praising its talented strikers and athletic style and a threat on set pieces. Renard told the press conference that the Dutch side is "a very good team, with talented strikers, a particularly athletic team that is also dangerous in dead‑ball situations." He added that they should be counted among the tournament outsiders. The Tunisian coach praised the Netherlands' consistent tactical setup, pointing to the balance at the back provided by midfielder Frenkie de Jong. He said the organization remains the same and works well. Renard said watching the Dutch team is a pleasure and that he loves this style of football. He also expressed a wish not to see the same entertaining play the following day. Although Tunisia has already been eliminated, the side hopes to bring some colour to the World Cup by facing the Netherlands. Renard, however, voiced little confidence in his own squad's chances. He warned that a loss of confidence can lead to severe consequences, noting that Tunisia has already felt such effects. The coach concluded that the only option now is to try to finish the tournament as best as possible. Viewers are invited to watch the newest Studio Oranje programme for further analysis of the Dutch side, Ronaldo, the Ghanaian priest, Harry Kane and other World Cup storylines.
