Robert Lewandowski Returns to Barcelona After Chicago Talks

Robert Lewandowski arrived back in Barcelona on Monday after a weekend visit to the United States. He met with Chicago Fire officials to inspect the club’s facilities and discuss a potential move. His contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the 2025/26 season, leaving his future undecided. Chicago Fire have presented a contract lasting two to three years with earnings close to $20 million per season. Gregg Berhalter, the club’s head coach, has emphasized Lewandowski’s role as the face of the MLS project. Berhalter also outlined the team’s ambition to compete for titles. During three relatively injury‑free seasons at Barcelona, Lewandowski maintained a high scoring rate. In his final season, his availability was limited but his finishing remained effective. At 37, a move to MLS could reduce intensity and extend his playing career. Lewandowski has not yet confirmed whether he will join Chicago Fire or explore other options.
