Standard Liege near Dimitri Lavalée deal from Sturm Graz
Sturm Graz defender Dimitri Lavalée is set to return to Standard Liege as the Belgian club moves to finalize his signing, two‑year deal with an optional third year after making 98 appearances and scoring three goals for the Austrian side.
Lavalée began his professional career at Standard Liege, where he featured in eight matches before departing in 2020. He left to sign for German club Mainz 05 but never played a competitive game for them.
Instead, he spent one and a half seasons on loan at Sint Truiden, accumulating 44 appearances. During that period he established himself as a regular defender in the Belgian league.
In 2022, Lavalée transferred to KV Mechelen, adding 29 league appearances in the 2022/2023 campaign. His performances there preceded his move to Austria the following year.
Lavalée joined Sturm Graz in 2023, where he has featured in 98 matches and contributed three goals from defence. His tenure in the Austrian Bundesliga has been marked by consistent playing time.
Standard Liege are preparing for a busy summer transfer window as they aim to secure European competition qualification for the next season. The club’s pursuit of Lavalée reflects its strategy to strengthen the squad ahead of that goal.
Ben Jackson of GBeNeFN documented the impending transfer. His report highlights Standard Liege’s intent to bolster the defence ahead of the upcoming campaign.
