Stevenage bolster midfield with free signing Terry Taylor

Stevenage have secured former Charlton Athletic midfielder Terry Taylor on a free transfer, signing the 24‑year‑old to a two‑year deal at the Lamex Stadium. Taylor arrives after a season‑long loan at Northampton Town and follows the club’s recent signing of former Fulham striker Olly Sanderson.

The agreement runs for two full seasons, guaranteeing Taylor a place in Stevenage’s midfield squad. An additional clause allows the club to extend the deal by a further year if both parties agree. All terms were finalized at the Lamex Stadium.

Taylor moved to Charlton Athletic from Burton Albion in the summer of 2023. The midfielder signed on after impressing during his time at Burton. His arrival at Charlton marked the start of his professional progression in the English leagues.

At Charlton’s home ground, The Valley, Taylor struggled to secure a regular starting berth. Consequently, he spent the 2025‑26 season on loan at Northampton Town. During that spell he amassed 49 appearances across all competitions.

Stevenage’s acquisition of Taylor is the club’s second signing since their League One play‑off semi‑final loss to Stockport County. The previous addition was former Fulham striker Olly Sanderson. Both players are expected to bolster the squad ahead of the new campaign.
