Viking FK chase Dutch striker after 24-goal season

Romano Postema has completed a permanent move from FC Groningen to Norwegian champions Viking FK, after a loan spell at FC Emmen where he netted 24 goals in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. The transfer was announced on Viking’s website, confirming the striker’s next chapter abroad.

Technical director Erik Nevland explained that Viking have monitored Postema for several years and believe his attributes suit their playing style. He described the Dutch forward as a hard‑working striker, comfortable with both feet and possessing a keen eye for goal.

Postema said his first visit to Viking on 16 May, when the club faced IK Start, left a lasting impression. He praised the Lyse Arena atmosphere, the passionate supporters and the energy around the team, confirming his confidence that Viking is the right place for him.

Viking FK, crowned champions of Norway in 2025, will enter the Champions League qualifying rounds this season. The club sees Postema’s goal‑scoring record as a boost for their European ambitions.

A return to De Euroborg with FC Groningen did not materialise despite his 24‑goal haul for FC Emmen. The striker’s prolific season in the Dutch second tier underscored his readiness for a new challenge abroad.

Postema had already been training with Viking during the previous week, integrating into the squad ahead of his official registration. He expressed eagerness to face upcoming challenges, stating he is ready for what comes.
