Why the KNVB must stick with a Dutch coach after Koeman's exit
René van der Gijp and Wim Kieft both argue that the Royal Dutch Football Association must appoint a Dutch manager as the successor to Ronald Koeman, who announced his resignation as Netherlands head coach after the World Cup elimination, in a statement earlier today.
Koeman confirmed his departure shortly after the Netherlands were knocked out of the World Cup, stating he would step down as the Oranje manager. His exit leaves the national team without a head coach as the KNVB begins the search for a replacement.
Van der Gijp warned that appointing a foreign coach would signal a lack of quality options within the country.

Kieft echoed the sentiment, insisting the KNVB should always opt for the biggest names and best trainers. Kieft added that while Arne Slot remains a candidate, the midfielder might still seek a lucrative contract abroad before taking the national role. He suggested Slot could earn “heel veel geld” overseas prior to becoming the Dutch coach.Hans van Breukelen blasts Dutch penalty woes after World Cup exit
