Ajax departs with 22 players, Adingra misses Conference League duel

Ajax left on Wednesday with a squad of twenty-two players for Croatia, where Thursday evening the opening match of the Conference League against Hajduk Split will take place. Coach Míchel Sánchez has to play the match without Simon Adingra, who is not yet fit enough. The trip marks the start of the Amsterdam side's European campaign.

Selection and injuries

In addition to Adingra, Daley Blind, Steven Berghuis, Anton Gaaei and Caio Henrique are also missing, as they have not yet recovered from various injuries. Kasper Dolberg suffered a serious injury during the international break, meaning he is also unavailable. Moreover, Yves Bissouma cannot be registered for the competition phase, because the deadline had already passed.

Youngsters and match details

Coach Míchel Sánchez therefore added a number of young talents: goalkeeper Aymean El Hani, midfielder Mohamed Abdalla, Aaron Bouwman, Dies Janse, Jorthy Mokio, Rayane Bounida and Abdellah Ouazane. Abdalla made his debut in July against FK Vojvodina and scored immediately. The kickoff of the first competitive match is scheduled for 18:45.

With the 22-player squad, Ajax hopes to make a strong start in the Conference League, despite the absence of several key players. The club continues to closely monitor the European campaign via VI PRO, with analyses, opponent profiles and extra content for subscribers.
