Andalusia Mini World Cup: La Roja chase their third world crown
While the Spanish women's national team celebrated its third world crown by beating Brazil 5‑4 in the final of the Mundialito Beach Soccer Andalucía, the men's team finished third after losing 5‑8 to the same opponent in the same tournament.
A perfect tournament for the women's La Roja
After winning the world title in 2022 and 2023, the Spanish women's national team started the Mundialito with victories over Ukraine and Italy, maintaining a perfect run. A month earlier, La Roja had won the European Championship in Viareggio, Italy.
In the grand final, La Roja took the lead quickly with a 3‑0 from Natalia Cuadrado, Patri Campoy and Sara Tui. Brazil responded, cutting it to 3‑2 and then to 4‑4, but Spain held on to seal the 5‑4 victory.
Andrea Mirón was chosen the tournament's best player, standing out in the Spanish national team's attack. Her performance cemented La Roja's dominance throughout the competition.
The Mundialito was held at the Real Plaza de Toros in El Puerto de Santa María, Cádiz, with eight national teams participating, four women's and four men's, under a round-robin format. Spain closed the women's phase with three consecutive wins, completing the treble of titles.
In the men's category, Spain fell 5‑8 to Brazil in the final match, finishing the tournament in third place. Portugal was crowned champion and Brazil finished second.
This triumph reinforces Spain's position as the dominant power in women's beach soccer worldwide. The success also highlights the depth of talent in the squad, with emerging players contributing quality.
