Aston Villa’s summer push gains veteran Danish striker

🇬🇧

Aston Villa have secured Danish international forward Amalie Vangsgaard from Juventus for an undisclosed fee, the 29‑year‑old arriving this morning as the club’s third signing of the summer transfer window, adding a seasoned attacker to their WSL squad for the upcoming campaign.

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Danish international forward Amalie Vangsgaard from Serie A Women club Juventus. The Villans announced the transfer in an official press release issued this morning and disclosed that an undisclosed fee was paid to secure her services.

Villa’s recruitment drive targets players with proven quality at the highest level, and Vangsgaard’s extensive experience fits that profile. She has previously played for Fortuna Hjørring, BSF and FC Nordsjælland in Denmark before moving to clubs such as Linköping, Paris Saint‑Germain and Juventus.

Vangsgaard was part of the Juventus side that captured a domestic treble in the 2024/2025 season. During her two‑year spell in Italy she recorded 11 goals in 62 appearances across all competitions. Internationally she has earned 46 caps for Denmark and scored 14 goals.

Director of Women’s Football Marisa Ewers said, “She’s a player with proven quality and experience at the highest level, and we’re delighted to bring her to Aston Villa.” Ewers added that Vangsgaard will add valuable quality to the group as the club builds towards its ambitions for the new season.

The signing marks Villa’s third acquisition of the summer transfer window, bolstering their attacking options. For Vangsgaard, the move offers a fresh challenge in the English Women’s Super League after contributing to Juventus’s recent success. Villa will look to integrate her experience to compete for higher league positions, while Juventus will adjust their squad following her departure.
